No business without cybersecurity: BCG alumna Maya Bundt on cyber governance, career reinvention, and imposing structure on ambiguity
A doctorate in natural sciences, a career-defining move to BCG, years shaping cyber insurance at Swiss Re, and now a portfolio of board and governance roles—Maya's path has been anything but linear. What ties it together is an early bet on cyber risk long before it reached the boardroom agenda, and the conviction that structure beats hesitation when problems feel overwhelming. In this interview, Maya shares what she learned along the way, why cyber belongs next to capital allocation on every board agenda, and her advice for alumni eyeing senior leadership and board roles.
Creating impact together: Two events, one shared commitment to female empowerment
At two recent BCG events in Munich and Frankfurt, women in leadership took center stage. Influential leaders shaping Germany’s business agenda were recognized at Top100Women in German Business, while the WomenPowerment live event brought alumnae and BCG leaders together for open conversations around setbacks, resilience, and “failing forward.”
Both events focus on honest exchange, strong networks, and the question of how to create more visibility and support for women in leadership.

TECH by Handelsblatt: Shaping Europe’s technological future
At this year’s TECH by Handelsblatt conference in Heilbronn, more than 2,000 leaders from business, technology, politics, and academia came together to discuss Europe’s role in a rapidly changing tech landscape.
As co-initiator, BCG contributed perspectives on AI sovereignty, scaling, resilience, and next-generation leadership—speakers on stage included several BCG colleagues and alumnus Karsten Wildberger, now Germany’s Federal Minister for Digital Transformation and Government Modernization.
Once a BCGer, always a runner: SOLA 2026
After a one-year pause, BCG returned to the SOLA course on May 16 with three teams of alumni, employees, and friends—spanning cohorts from BST to CEO. Across 113 kilometers through Zurich and the surrounding hills, our runners brought back a long-standing BCG tradition: ambitious running, strong team spirit, and the well-earned dinner afterwards.
